Accounting PY in Australia

The Accounting Professional Year Program is approved by the Department of Home Affairs (formerly the Department of Immigration and Border Protection). It is available to overseas students who have an Australian accounting degree qualification as a result of at least two years' study in Australia.

Accounting PYP was developed by CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and the Institute of Public Accountants. It is delivered by registered providers who have been approved by the three professional accounting bodies.

Advance your career with a Professional Year in Accounting and:

  • Gain valuable work experience and knowledge
  • Develop your professional skills
  • Prepare yourself for the Australian workplace from theory to practice
  • Give yourself access to Accounting specific work-readiness programs

The practical training component teaches you the skills you need to succeed professionally in Australia.

After completing the program, you’ll be eligible to apply for five migration points. You can use these for all points-test visas. Completion of the Professional Year doesn’t guarantee permanent residency. For all migration and visa questions, including if you can work while completing the program, contact the Department of Home Affairs. Australian citizens and permanent residents who are also recent graduates can also apply for the program. The Professional Year Program is full-fee paying and HECS doesn’t apply.
